The Melanin in My Skin,
Shines outside of me, and within
Through the sun and the light,
Melanin and I have always had a good night.
–
The glowing sun shines onto me.
Filling my body with dopamine, serotonin, and glee
Oh, how I love my Melanin in my skin,
Glistening throughout, always with a win.
–
Sometimes, it is hard
To show my Melanin to the world,
Like a red card
There is a barrier that shows
How some people hate our skin,
Only God knows…
–
Through the ups and downs,
My Melanin will still make me proud,
Like a kid in a candy store,
Or a singer in a large crowd.
–
Whatever time of day it is,
If I am ever stuck in a jam,
The Melanin in My Skin,
Will always make me who I am.
