Puzzled within ourselves
Are we waking up to reality?
That the world’s played a trick on us
Infringing on our mentality
We had crowns of gold before shackles of brass
Castles so high that they saw skies
We gathered together joining hands en masse
Creating the memories that would transcend good-byes
The skin they fear absorbs the light of day
And reflects brightly in the light of night
As we harness energy from the sun’s rays
Do we emit our own version of the moonlight?
Oh, how gracious is this beauty we are given
How profound is the history of our roots
So resilient that we’ve become so driven
Black is the berry, the sweetest of fruits.
